First Week of Tiger Football

The Tigers opened their season up last Saturday here at E.M. Stevens Field hosting Howard Payne University. With 2,250 Trinity students and tiger fans in attendance, the Tigers were ready for action. The Tigers struck first with a 30 yard field goal by sophomore kicker Garret Biel.  After falling behind early 8-3 the Tigers answered back with a senior connection, between senior quarterback Robert Davidson and  senior receiver Daniel South.  After halftime the Tigers were trailing by one 17-18, but with strong play in the fourth quarter, they made there way into overtime. After two grueling overtimes Trinity came out on top with a score of 40-34. Robert Davidson led the passing attack with 221 yards passing and 3 touchdowns through the air. The Trinity offense accounted for a total of 421 yards of offense. The Tiger defense was led by Antonio Debouse and Thomas Puskarich, who each accounted for ten tackles. This was the first game since 2003 that Trinity ended regulation with a tie. Entering Coach Steve Mohr's 21st season at the helm of Trinity Football, this was his first double overtime event. The Tigers have this weekend off, but will be in action at E.M. Stevens field next Saturday hosting SCAC rival Rhodes College.
